Even though shelters strive to provide the best care possible, sometimes it’s not enough for an animal to truly thrive. Every animal deserves a human companion to experience true happiness.

Extended stays in shelters can cause animals to lose hope, become unhappy, or even suffer from depression. Fortunately, foster homes play a crucial role in preventing this outcome.

Ronnie’s Arrival at the Shelter

Ronnie, a lovable stray, found himself at Dallas Animal Services (DAS), one of the largest municipal shelters in the country, before his journey to a foster home. Upon arrival, Ronnie’s spirits soared as he explored the shelter, eager to greet everyone and showcase his friendly demeanor.

“He was a happy, wiggly boy who couldn’t wait to meet his human friends,” shared Marlo Clingman, the public information coordinator at Dallas Animal Services, with The Dodo.

DAS strives to find loving foster or forever homes for their animals quickly, and Ronnie was no exception. Thanks to his good behavior and patience, a compassionate family contacted the shelter and offered to foster Ronnie.

Ronnie Thrives with His Foster Family

When Ashley, Ronni’s foster mom, arrived to take him home, the exuberant pup couldn’t contain his joy.

“He was thrilled to meet his foster mom, Ashley. He was all smiles and wags from the second he hopped in their car,” shared Marlo.

Capturing a moment of pure happiness, Ashley snapped a photo of Ronni in the car where his wide smile couldn’t even keep his eyes open.

Ronni was overjoyed to finally become a cherished house dog in a family that would love him deeply. Stepping into his new home, he immediately sensed it was a place of love, fun, and plenty of cuddles.

Quick to show his gratitude, Ronni showered his foster family with kisses, demonstrating his affectionate nature at every opportunity.

“Ronnie loves to play and would be happy to have a big doggie buddy to romp around with or at least a friend to have playdates with. He likes men and women equally — he loves his foster mom and dad so much for breaking him out of the shelter. He has met a toddler and did great — he gave him a big sloppy, doggie kiss!” added Marlo.

Ronni’s foster family hopes he finds a forever home where he’ll receive the love he deserves, returning it with endless affection and joy.

Good luck, Ronni! May you find a warm and loving forever home where you’ll be cherished and appreciated every day of your life.
