Our urge to look and adore newborn puppies can sometimes be hard to control. However, there are more important paws to focus on.
The mother who gave birth to the pups did a lot of hard work to bring them into this world; therefore, she deserves all the observation and love.
Unfortunately, this mother pup didn’t really experience that.
Here’s the story of Dory, an abandoned dog mom who made sure to stay strong in order to save her puppies.
Rescuing Dory and Her Pups
*Dory, a five-year-old Boxer, gave birth to nine beautiful puppies. Instead of being nurtured for bringing new joy into the world, she found herself abandoned.*
Dory, a resilient five-year-old Boxer, recently gave birth to nine adorable puppies. Yet, instead of receiving the care and support she deserved, she and her pups were abandoned in a church parking lot in Abilene, Texas.
Fortunately, their plight didn’t go unnoticed. A concerned individual spotted them and shared their story on social media, hoping for assistance. Paw Angel Animal Rescue (PAAR) promptly responded after seeing the heartbreaking photo.
“When I saw the picture, it just broke my heart, and I called Angel immediately. We went and rescued the dogs,” recounted Misty Boerger, one of the rescuers.
Together with her dog-loving friend, Angel Urban, Misty embarked on a mission to find and rescue Dory and her puppies. They found Dory, frightened but protective, cuddled up with her litter. The puppies, barely two weeks old, seemed relatively okay, but Dory had noticeable injuries.
“We found lots of wounds on her that were opened and draining,” said Angel Urban.
Recovery and Resilience
After rescuing Dory and her nine puppies from a church parking lot in Abilene, Texas, Paw Angel Animal Rescue (PAAR) wasted no time in getting them the care they desperately needed. The team carefully loaded them into the back seat of their car and rushed them to the vet for treatment and checkups.
While all of Dory’s wounds were treatable, the vet discovered a heartbreaking truth: one of the puppies, named Peach, had a tumor in her throat. This condition prevented her from nursing properly and would worsen as she grew. Due to her small size, surgical intervention was not an option, and Peach had to be euthanized.
The loss of Peach deeply affected the entire fluffy family, leaving heavy hearts among Dory and her eight remaining siblings. PAAR shared the devastating news on their Facebook page, garnering support and sympathy from their community.
Despite the tragedy, the love and care provided by PAAR helped Dory and her puppies heal both physically and emotionally. With time and nurturing, they began to recover from their ordeal, finding strength and resilience in their journey towards a brighter future.
Embracing a New Beginning
Thanks to the generous support and donations received, PAAR shared a heartwarming update on the progress of Dory and her puppies. The family has come a long way since their rescue.
Three of the puppies have already been adopted into loving forever homes, where they are cherished and adored. As for Dory and the remaining puppies, they continue to thrive under the care of their foster mom, Boerger. Every day is filled with playful moments and cozy cuddles, providing them with the comfort and security they deserve as they await their own forever families.
The journey from abandonment to this newfound happiness is a testament to the power of compassion and rescue efforts, bringing hope and joy to each member of this resilient canine family.
