When Tiffany, a devoted dog rescuer from Atlanta, received a distress call about a dog allegedly abandoned on a local walking trail, she rushed to the scene. But upon arrival, she discovered that the dog wasn’t abandoned at all — he was the beloved companion of an unhoused individual.
Realizing the situation was more complex than it first seemed, Tiffany quickly went home to prepare a thoughtful care package. She put together a bag of food for both the dog, named Simon, and his owner. When she returned, she found Simon and his dad waiting there.

Tiffany learned that Simon and his dad had recently fallen on hard times and were navigating a transitional period. Far from being discarded, Simon was deeply cherished by his owner.
With Atlanta’s intense heat bearing down, Tiffany decided to help Simon stay cool by giving him a much-needed shave. She also arranged for them to stay in a pet-friendly hotel and shared their story online to rally support.

“Please save the judgmental comments; this could be you and your dog,” Tiffany posted on TikTok. “You never really know someone’s situation.”
Her heartfelt plea resonated widely, and within a day, Tiffany had raised enough funds to take Simon to the vet for a check-up and some pain relief for a sore paw. Aside from that, Simon was in good spirits and enjoying the company of new friends.

Tiffany’s refusal to jump to conclusions and her willingness to understand the full story allowed her to provide crucial assistance to Simon and his dad during a challenging time. She continued to support them with supplies and ensured they had a place to stay while seeking more permanent housing solutions — and, most importantly, kept them together.
