In the midst of a scorching heat wave in Baltimore, Maryland, a strikingly thin and malnourished dog named Jasmine was discovered in a field. Weighing only 68 pounds—far below the healthy 90 pounds expected for a dog of her size—Jasmine also faced a critical health challenge: she was missing a significant portion of her nose, making breathing difficult.

Baltimore County Animal Services, facing budget constraints and overcrowding, made the heartbreaking decision to schedule Jasmine for humane euthanasia. However, a social media plea for rescue came just in time, catching the attention of Leah Biddinger, founder of Bring ‘Em Home Animal Rescue.

Leah, whose own life had been profoundly touched by a battle with T4 squamous cell carcinoma that led to the use of a prosthetic nose, felt an immediate connection to Jasmine’s plight. She founded Bring ‘Em Home with a mission to give animals like Jasmine a second chance—a mission rooted in her own second chance at life.

Jasmine, described by Leah as capturing her heart, found herself welcomed into the loving care of Bring ‘Em Home. Despite her breathing difficulties, Jasmine arrived at the rescue exuding resilience and joy, eagerly embracing the opportunity to be a carefree dog once more. Her journey took a hopeful turn when she recently underwent a vet visit, displaying her friendly nature and readiness for the upcoming surgery scheduled for July 24th to address her nasal issues.

Jasmine’s story is a testament to the resilience of animals and the transformative power of compassion. It’s a reminder that every animal, regardless of past challenges, deserves a chance to thrive in a loving environment. As Jasmine continues her journey towards recovery, she symbolizes hope and the promise of a brighter future, filled with the love, care, and security she so richly deserves.
