This is the heartwarming tale of Mamas, a lovable Pit Bull. One day, dog walker Eric Maus was strolling through Prospect Park with his clients when he encountered a forlorn sight—a Pit Bull tied to a tree with a note attached:
“Take me home. I’m a great dog. I’m 7 years old. Don’t let my size scare you. I’m sweet.”
Even with two other dogs in tow, Mamas didn’t budge, showing her friendly and affectionate nature.
Eric couldn’t bear to leave her behind, unsure of what to do next in a place like Prospect Park, not suitable for a dog to be alone.
He quickly posted a photo of Mamas on a neighborhood Facebook page, seeking advice. Within minutes, responses poured in. A Good Samaritan offered to meet them at the tree and arranged transportation outside the park to Sean Casey Animal Rescue, where a kennel awaited Mamas.
Together, they walked out of the park. Due to her size and a possible bladder infection, Mamas took a slow walk, but once loaded into the vehicle for rescue, her hesitation melted away.
At the shelter, she eagerly jumped out of the car, sensing safety and a fresh start in her life.
After completing the required stray hold and receiving a clean bill of health, Mamas will soon be available for adoption, awaiting a loving family to welcome her into their home.
We hope Mamas finds happiness at the shelter, surrounded by people who care deeply for her, until she finds her forever family.
