A great activity to do when in the great outdoors with friends and families is the board game. There are hundreds of fun and unique board games to choose from but which would you consider a fine choice? Today, I’ll be giving you a good list of board games perfect for camping. For one, I simply enjoy a nice board game with friends. It helps fire up the neurons and there are board games out today that is designed for parties.

So, if you’re planning on going out camping with your family or a group of friends you might want to bring one or more of these board games. They will significantly enhance the fun factor when the day goes into a lull.

1. Scrabble

Let’s start off with a classic and as they say: a classic never goes out of style. Scrabble has always been a staple whenever I go out camping with the family. In fact, my scrabble board game is stored in the trunk of our RV so it’s always on hand when we’re camping. If all players are old enough to understand and play the game you are sure to get a blast and see the clock tick away.

I highly recommend you get the magnetic version ones so that you won’t misplace the tiles when playing. Something of a regular nuisance when playing outdoors, believe me. We actually had to make sure all tiles remain in place whenever a gust of wind rushes in the area. Switching to a magnetic scrabble, like this one, helped eliminate excuses, aplenty. I also suggest you pick one with tiles made of plastic instead of the traditional wooden ones. Plastic is best suited and will last longer in outdoor surroundings.

One other thing I would like to point out is that scrabble requires only a handful of items/accessories to pay. All of which are provided within the package. That’s another plus as all campers know that every single space is vital and scrabble is easy to carry around that it’s basically a non-factor in this category.

2. Classic Trouble Board Games

Classic Trouble is a board game that is quite similar to Ludo but designed to be simpler which also makes it an exciting fast-paced board game. Its design also ensures that the board pieces are not upset during rounds. Basically, Classic Trouble is a perfect example of an outdoor board game.

Classic Trouble is available in various themes taken from pop culture franchises like Star Wars so you have a wide range of versions to choose from. The design of this board game is well thought of. Each piece fits into slots to prevent them from falling and sliding off the board. The dice are also inside a little globe to prevent it from bouncing off all over the place.

The compact size also makes it hassle-free to carry around. As the entirety of the board, as well as the pieces, are made of plastic. This means you needn’t have to worry about elemental damage to your set. Other than my personal favorite, Scrabble, I’d point to Classic Trouble as a must-have camping board game.

3. Battleship

Another classic board game that is not only great indoors but also a good board game outdoors. One thing I can say about Battleship is that it is quite easy to pick and play but is something that requires skill to master. It is basically a strategy game for two players but doesn’t fret as each game is decently paced so other players won’t have to wait long for their turn.https://www.youtube.com/embed/q0qpQ8doUp8?rel=1&modestbranding=0&controls=1&showinfo=1&fs=1&wmode=transparent

This has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and it’s actually amazing that I get to play this with my own kids today. I do recommend you get a small pouch or Ziploc bag as the small pieces used in Battleship can be easily lost if you’re not careful.

4. Bucket of Doom

Now, let’s move away from classic board games to some newer ones that have quickly become a favorite of mine and thousands of others. Bucket of Doom is a hilarious card/board game that thrusts you into some pretty deadly situations with only cards with random words to help you think your way out of certain doom.https://www.youtube.com/embed/u1gDYktTRRc?rel=1&modestbranding=0&controls=1&showinfo=1&fs=1&wmode=transparent

This is similar to Cards Against Humanity in that it needs you to bring out your inner crazy person to concoct some inventive and funny ways to escape your current predicament. I choose this as a camping board game due to its theme of surviving insane scenarios which I think is a fun topic when in the great outdoors. A quick warning though; this isn’t a game designed for kids but is a great game to play with your crazy friends.

5. Exploding Kittens

Another fun new board game that I just found out recently. It’s like a Russian roulette but with exploding kittens. Now, let me explain the game a bit better. Basically, Exploding Kittens is card game wherein players draw a card each round. The goal of the game is similar to a game of Russian roulette in that the last player standing wins. The card to avoid is obviously the exploding kitten card which will eliminate you from the game.

Here’s a quick video tutorial if you need a summarized yet detailed look at how the game is played:https://www.youtube.com/embed/rcVpTb-iPoQ?rel=1&modestbranding=0&controls=1&showinfo=1&fs=1&wmode=transparent

The reason I included this game into this list is pretty simple; it’s incredibly fun and simple to play. You can play it with both adults and kids alike as it’s an amusing game for all ages. It’s pretty much a game of luck with a little strategy thrown in. Me, the missus, and the kids always get a blast playing a round or two of Exploding Kittens before going to sleep during camping trips.

6. Snakes and Ladders

Let’s finish off the list with another fan-favorite board game that has been around for quite a long time. I would guess that you already know about Snakes and Ladders. I would also guess that you know just how simple yet fun this game can be. A game where you can be winning for most of the match but suddenly find yourself sliding down the board to the last place, just like that.

It’s a kid-friendly game that can also be quite entertaining for older players. I know I’m still having fun playing this game. The game can be played with more than two players and each board has a different setup for snakes and ladders placements.

If you’re looking for a Snakes and Ladders board game then I suggest you check out this one. It comes with a Ludo board game as well so it’s a 2 in 1 deal. This game is a simple one that is great for passing time. I would recommend that you bring more than a couple board games when camping to ensure there’s some variety to be had.

Conclusion

Camping board game is a great choice for those who prefer entertainment that won’t leave them sweaty, tired, and dirty. A good board game can help pass time, a great board game will have you coming back for rounds 2, 3, and so on and so forth. The list of camping board game I included above are all well-known and are staples in camping trips. There are literally dozens more out there but these are the best ones I can think of that are perfect for all ages. Well, except for the Bucket of Doom game but that’s just a throwaway for your adult friends.

Well, that’s the list. I do hope that you were able to take away some good ideas for your upcoming camping trips in terms of fun activities. Comment down below if you have other fun camping board game recommendations and feel free to share this with your friends.
